Today we would like to share with you the story of Joey, Meeko, and Pom Pom.

These three adorable pups seem to love our Eco Chic set!

This set was purchased several years ago, and has brought so much happiness to both the owner and our three little friends.

We would like to thank them for sharing this with us!

When we received these pictures, we were all in love with how the dining table and the chairs look in the client’s home.

The client came in looking for something modern, yet durable, and by working with a member of the design team, we were able to narrow down what they needed!

Featured in the home is the beautiful Deloro dining table in white, made exclusively by F2, paired with our exclusive Lenny chairs in a plum leather.

The vase and orchid from our store also provides the perfect pop of color to add to the color pallet present in the room.

Do you find your space cluttered and disorganised lately? A great way to maximize the use of space and reorganize your life could be through investing in a storage bed.  F2 carries many different styles of storage beds to fit your lifestyle and hide all that unsightly clutter!

We have a couple different options for storage beds. The options shown below showcase a hydraulic system which easily raises the slats and mattress allowing for maximal storage capabilities underneath. Its great for hiding away seasonal clothing or items that would otherwise be cluttering up your room and leaving you with a feeling of frenzied disarray.

For those who need more storage but for everyday items, a storage bed with drawers on the side is an ideal choice for hiding away clothes and items that will need to be accessed on a regular basis. We have a few different drawer options: some come on the sides; others simply have two streamlined drawers on the front that, at first glance, don’t look like drawers at all!

One of our most popular wood beds, the Burrows, also has different drawer options available. Depending on the needs and orientation of the bed in your space, you can choose to add on drawers to one or both sides of the bed, three on each side.

DISTRICT EIGHT DESIGN - EXCLUSIVELY AT F2 FURNISHINGS

F2 newly inspired District Eight Design fuses the concept of design and build.  Inspired by an industrial sentiment that focuses on authentic custom designs, District Eight Design creates clean, vividly unique and contemporary designs in a stunning French colonial era workshop/studio.  Impassioned to preserve historically significant architecture, furniture and objects, this new style embraces a timeless sensibility that reflects this vintage aesthetic.

For a consumer who appreciates vintage industrial antiques and architectural elements, these are captured by the pieces that define a past where pride in craftsmanship is upheld in all the designs.  District Eight blends function, form and beauty to inspire a lasting memory.  The entire collection uses a combination of raw materials and natural patinas applied to the solid wood and cast-iron designs, which provides a unique foundation for a furniture line that is complimented by the final touches of custom exposed hardware, which is then sealed with a blend of natural waxes and oils.

WOOD

District Eight Design uses reclaimed hardwood such as pinkado and mahogany, which are recycled from sites in Vietnam.  Each component is kiln dried, laminated, and then bolted together with steel rods; this technique reinforces the durability and structure of the surface and therefore prevents warping.  A variety of natural waxes and oils are applied to complete the process.

FSC certified white oak is also available.  This stunning wood is harvested from sustainable sources in Europe.  It is laminated and then finished to highlight the natural textures and knots, creating depth and adding to the character of the product.

All of the woods selected by District Eight Design are intended to develop a patina over time.  The wood surfaces can be touched up with furniture wax as needed and with each application the surface will develop a harder, longer lasting finish.  For daily care we recommend a light application of any furniture polish that contains Carnauba wax.

CAST IRON

District Eight Designs sources all its cast iron from imported vintage machine parts, primarily old Japanese weaving looms.  These machine parts are sorted into salvageable components while the rest is melted down and recreated as table legs through a hand laid sand-casting technique.

The castings are then Parkerized (a historical electrochemical process of protecting steel from corrosion and increasing its resistance to wear), blackened, then waxed and oiled.  This finish will oxidize in some areas and then stabilize.  Castings then only need to be waxed as desired to limit further oxidization.

Steel parts like connecting rods are gun-glued and then finished with an acrylic polymer.  Drying gun oil is then applied to further protect during shipping.  The finish will remain durable but can be touched up with wax as needed.

The home furnishings created with these castings are all 100% recycled.  Throughout the collection, authentic, traditional materials and processes are employed.  Small areas of oxidization will occur naturally and should be considered integral elements of the design.

Along with helping our walk-in clients, F2 also works with many of the local builders to help create a harmonious look throughout their show homes.  In this contemporary open concept home that came with loads of natural sunlight, the F2 design team selected pieces that would add to its warmth, optimize its space and also maintain a continuous flow throughout.

  The beautiful wood floors, structural glass walls and dividers and neutral coloured paint colours really suited the clean lines and simplistic designs most emphasized with the classic modern pieces that were selected.  Overall the home feels warm, inviting and interesting with the combination of glass tops, wood bases and beautiful tufted details in the upholstery sofa and infamous Barcelona chair.

In this home we wanted to highlight one of our best kept secrets, our very own 100% Canadian made Ace custom sofa. Think of this piece as a frame that you yourself can design to suit your specific needs; through seat arrangement, size and depth – all your choice.  In this case we customized a four over four seat arrangement and added a classic touch with tufting design on the back pillows.  We used a soft blue/gray commercial fabric which is both durable and luxurious and finally wanting to make a rather bold and daring statement we added industrial wheels creating a comfortable, yet very unique and one of a kind sofa; a sofa that commands attention!  Sound like anyone you know?
